LighterLife Weight-Management Counsellors undergo rigorous training and each hold a BTEC professional certificate or diploma in Weight-Management Consultancy, accredited by Edexcel.
I had always managed to keep a relatively healthy weight in my teens & twenties, however as middle age approached my six pack had turned into a small barrel. My wife had just lost 4 1/2 stone with LighterLife on the Total programme and I was amazed at how her attitude to food and dieting had changed. I decided to do the programme and lost 2 stone in 5 weeks! I couldn’t believe how easy it was. I realised that hitting 40 was not an valid excuse to let the “it’s bought and paid for” pounds pile on.
After letting go of 2 stone in 5 weeks I decided that I wanted to help other people lead a lighter & healthier life. As a qualified counsellor I am trained to work with both sexes, however I understand that some men find it easier to relate to another man and one who has succeeded on the programme.
I lost three stone with LighterLife and it still feels great shopping for clothes and liking what I see in the changing room mirror. I became a LighterLife Counsellor to offer overweight and obese people a real solution to the frustration of yoyo dieting. My weekly group meetings are singlesex and with no more than 12 people in a group, you’ll get plenty of support. Each week I’ll help you understand why you overeat then work with you to change your behaviour. I’ll keep you focussed on your weightloss goal and motivated to succeed.

Because LighterLife is much more than just a diet, our experts are drawn from both a medical and a psychological background.
An obese child, teenager and adult, with two psychology degrees and over two decades of counselling, LighterLife co-founder Jackie brings unique expertise to LighterLife and its ongoing development.
With a background in science and teaching, years of working with groups and personal understanding of obesity, Bar helped co-found LighterLife and continues to use her knowledge and experience to develop LighterLife for the benefit of all.
Dr Kelly Johnston
Dr Kelly Johnston is our Head of Nutrition and Research and a Visiting Senior Lecturer at Kings College London. Her research interests are nutrition and gut physiology, obesity management, and the impact of diet on metabolic syndrome and other obesity-related co-morbidities.
Dr Matt Capehorn
Dr Matt Capehorn has a specialist interest in obesity management and is the Medical Director at LighterLife. Matt has been on various advisory boards, is a full time GP and the clinical director of the National Obesity Forum and the Rotherham Institute for Obesity.
Dr Hilary Jones
Dr Hilary Jones is a GP and the media face of health and medicine, familiar from both TV and radio. Qualifying at The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in London, Dr Hilary has been working with LighterLife for a number of years.
