t’s important to set goals whilst on the Programme as it will help trigger new positive behaviours, keep you focused and can also help sustain that momentum during your journey. Your goal weight will help align your focus and promote a sense of self-mastery. After all you can’t manage what you don’t measure, and you can’t improve upon something that you don’t properly manage. LighterLife’s head of nutrition and research, Dr Kelly Johnston, explains why goal setting can help keep you motivated during Summer.
Ready! Set GOAL!
If you haven’t done so already, then set yourself some personal targets or ‘small wins’ if you will, that you would like to achieve in the coming weeks. These can be anything you like and whatever is important to you. Maybe you will get to planting up that corner of the garden that you’ve been meaning to but haven’t quite had the chance to yet. Or maybe you want to finish a book that you never seen to be able to find the time to read. The possibilities are endless and specific to each and every one of us.
In order to help you achieve this you should commit to whatever it is you want to achieve in the next 30 days by writing up your goals up and making them visible. Create a plan that you can stick to every week, but also be sure that your goals are achievable. Leave little notes for yourself around the place, set calendar reminders or create a vision board and print it up somewhere visible to help motivate and inspire you. And finally, stick with it. Keep chipping away and form good habits that will see you through the Summer and will stay with you for life.
